AES expands to Tennessee by acquiring Plant Drives & Systems (“PDS”). A strategic acquisition to expand AES’ services and geographic presence throughout the Southeast.

Mount Airy, NC, April 1, 2024. AES, an industrial equipment solutions provider, has acquired a system integrator, repair center, and engineering service provider, Plant Drives & Systems.

Founded in 1992, AES, is a family-owned and operated company, headquartered in Mount Airy, NC. Our talented team of 120+ employees provide industrial electronic, hydraulic, and mechanical equipment repair, sales of new and used equipment, as well as contract manufacturing and engineering solutions to a global customer base.

The acquisition of Plant Drives & Systems aligns well with our business model and our current growth strategy. This acquisition will allow AES not only to have a physical presence for our customers in TN, and neighboring areas, but to also strengthen our service offerings. Current clients of PDS will enjoy the benefits of our expanded and talented workforce, diverse service offerings, web-based customer portal, 2-year warranty, and free regional pick-up and delivery, to name a few. The acquisition will allow AES to begin offering system integration and panel build services not previously available to our customers. It will also increase the products we can offer to customers of AES while increasing our customer base predominately throughout Tennessee, North Carolina, Georgia, Virginia, and others.

Since 2010, Plant Drives & Systems have been not only a system integrator for variable frequency drives and automated systems, but also an authorized integrator and service center for Mitsubishi Electric, a UL508A Certified Panel Shop and VFD repair house. PDS is a family-owned and operated company, headquartered in Chattanooga, TN, with 6 team members. Alex and his team have built an incredible business on the foundation of providing high-quality service with a customer-centric focus. We, at AES, plan to continue that same level of customer service and provide high-quality service that customers of PDS have grown to know and love.

Moving forward, Alex will help to transition ownership of PDS to the AES team. We will maintain the existing facility in Chattanooga, TN and welcome the PDS team to AES. We plan to add new positions in Chattanooga including Drivers to pick-up and deliver for AES and PDS customers, and additional Repair Technicians.

This is an exciting time for both Plant Drives & Systems and AES. As one unified team, we become an even stronger service provider within our industry.
