Human Resources Manager
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plans, develops, organizes, implements, directs and evaluates the company’s organizational planning, policies and programs, compensation, benefits, performance management, employee relations, and recruiting and retention. Translates the strategic and tactical business plans into human resources’ operational plans.
- Develops, implements, and maintains human resource related policies while satisfying legal requirement. Advises leadership on application of standard company policies to ensure consistency and accurate policy interpretation interdepartmentally.
- Manages strategies to improve employee satisfaction and retention to improve the overall success of the employment relationship. Collaborates with the leadership team to develop programs and processes that promote a positive work environment. Manages employee events including luncheons, health fairs, wellness competitions, etc.
- Manages recruitment efforts. Collaborates with leaders to identify talent both within and outside the corporation. Utilizes recruiting software to create and manage requisitions, advertise job openings, and respond to applicants. Schedules and conducts phone and on-site interviews.
- Manages Affirmative Action Plan. Ensures good faith outreach effort compliance, sharing openings with appropriate recruiting sources and educating managers on proper interviewing, selection and recordkeeping guidelines.
- Facilitates new employee orientation and ensures appropriate onboarding process of new employees. Updates training materials to align with current processes, forms and legal requirements.
- Conducts company-wide training for policies and processes as necessary.
- Creates and maintains all employee documentation, including I-9s, EEO forms, FMLA, ADA, medical, drug testing, workers’ compensation, training, etc.
- Creates and maintains employee files, including personnel files, medical files, FMLA files, workers’ compensation files, and I-9 files.
- Answers employee questions regarding benefit plans, related enrollment processes, and reviews/compares explanation of benefits to ensure accuracy and employee understanding of their coverage. Troubleshoots benefit issues, determines root cause, implements corrective action and ensures issue resolution.
- Manages the development and implementation of compensation policies compliant with government wage and hour regulations as well as ensuring we are providing competitive wages for our geographic area. Prepares pay budgets, monitors and schedules individual pay actions, recommends, plans, and implements pay structure revisions. Responsible for the administration of payroll and HRIS software in compliance with all federal, state and local requirements. Analyzes related payroll related reports for accuracy and submits to the interested parties on a timely basis.
- Manages the planning, implementation, and administration of employee benefit programs such as health insurance, disability insurance, life insurance, employee assistance, retirement, and other plans. Maintains knowledge of government regulations, benefit program tends, and prevailing practices among similar organizations. Ensures benefit plans comply with regulatory requirements. Coordinates and schedules benefit enrollment meetings, including new hires, 401(k) and annual open enrollment meetings.
- Monitors employee absences to ensure compliance with Family and Medical Leave Act requirements. Issues FMLA and other leave related forms and paperwork, logs related absences, monitors FMLA and other leave related absences, and administers leave programs in compliance with statutory regulations and Company policy. Advise leaders on related procedures and requirements to ensure compliance.
- Manages performance management program to support leaders in identifying, documenting and communicating performance to employees. Coach leaders on employee feedback practices and on specific instances or issues that may arise.
- Supports the development and communication of company strategies, initiatives and culture.
- Serving as a resource to members of leadership regarding Human Resources & Safety issues.
- Recruits and leads a team of employees from throughout the organization to participate in the Safety Committee to address safety and health concerns and actions. Responsible for accident investigations
- Proactively establish relationships with members of local businesses, schools and government agencies.
- Participates in ongoing learning and developmental activities, including on the job training, special project assignments, seminars, web-based training, self-led training, etc.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Four year degree in Human Resources, Business, Industrial Organizational or Psychology or related field or combination of education and previous relevant work experience preferred.
- Minimum of 8-10 years of experience with Human Resources Management preferred.
- Must have proficiency with all Microsoft Office applications and prior experience with an HRIS.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY
- Working knowledge/familiarity with employment law, including Equal Employment Opportunity (Title VII), Department of Labor, Fair Labor Standards Act, National Labor Relations Act, Family and Medical Leave Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, etc.
- Affirmative Action experience a plus.
- Requires previous experience and solid knowledge in employee benefit plans (medical, dental, disability, life) and payroll processes (recordkeeping, overtime rules, garnishments, withholdings, deductions).
- Must have strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Requires strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Requires a high level of proficiency with business writing skills.
- Requires strict confidentiality in dealing with sensitive, private information.
- Requires effective public relations and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently with some supervision available to address non-routine questions.
- Ability to willingly participate in a team environment to achieve departmental and organizational goals and objectives.
- Ability to work with established deadlines and achieve goals/outcomes.
- Flexibility to work outside of standard business hours to meet business needs and travel to company events.

- Minimal physical demands, such as occasional bending and stooping to perform filing, shredding, organizational duties. Occasional walking within the department and throughout the office to attend meetings and meet with employees. Requires frequent computer and phone work. Occasional lifting up to 20 lbs. to move paper boxes and related office supplies. Consistent daily attendance required; occasional off-shift support required.

Generally, will work in climate controlled, smoke-free office environment. Occasionally visits non climate-controlled production or warehouse area to meet/talk with employees. Will occasionally travel to college campuses for recruiting events and other businesses/conference centers for company-sponsored training/events.
